Using safe, alignment-based positions and movements, you will understand the 5 actions of the spine and how to become more spacious and balanced while strengthening the quads, core and upper body. You will experience the benefit of breathing techniques to help you relax, quiet the mind and focus. You have the tools within you to optimize your game.
It is important to start your yoga journey with the correct classes. Yoga 101, Gentle & Supported, & Chair Supported Yoga will help build your yoga foundation so you have the skills and confidence to take the more advanced classes.
Qigong (pronounced “chee-gung”) is an ancient Chinese practice for mind/body wellness. Qi is the Chinese word for “life energy” and Gong means “work” or “skill,” especially something gained through perseverance and practice. Tai Chi is a derivative of Qigong focused on martial arts. Qigong is focused directly on health, and its growing popularity here has led some to call it “the new yoga.”
The Yovana Qigong class will be taught sitting in chairs and standing up. It is accessible to all fitness levels.
